Assisted Appraisal Processing Program
As a reminder of VA’s implementation of the Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans Act of 2019,VA has published Circular 26-19-31 to further clarify the Assisted Appraisal Processing Program (AAPP).
VA Appraisers may now contract with another person to complete the appraisal report. VA views this legislation as an opportunity to better serve Veterans in rural areas and/or reduce overall appraisal turn times. VA has oversight in place to identify VA appraisers utilizing the AAPP process, and those appraisal reports will be monitored and reviewed. There are certain parameters where the AAPP program is not permitted to be utilized: The VA fee panel appraiser is required to make all site visits on complex properties, homes equal to or greater than 1 million dollars in sales price or value, and new construction properties. VA will rely on the panel appraiser to determine if the order is "complex" or "non-complex".
If you would like for the assigned appraiser to participate in the AAPP, please indicate so by selecting “Yes” in Box 1E under Section 1. Requester Information when requesting the appraisal.
Please contact your Regional Account Manager should you have any questions related to this Client Announcement.
